Alison 1.1 (current App Store): Optional. Alison asks for location When In Use, and uses it when you tap weather. No Always. When you do, the phone sends its coordinates to Open-Meteo (api.open-meteo.com and air-quality-api.open-meteo.com) for pressure, humidity, air quality, and pollen. It sends the same coordinates to OpenStreetMap Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org) to look up your place and ZIP code. In the US and its territories, Alison then sends that 5-digit ZIP code, not the coordinates, to pollen.com (www.pollen.com) for a pollen index. A ZIP code is coarse location. Those services see your network address and the coordinates or ZIP code, and handle them under their own policies. Night Orders does not receive these lookups. No journal rows are sent. Deny location and the journal still works.

Alison 1.2: Optional. Alison asks for location While Using the App, and uses it only when you tap weather. No Always. When you do, your phone rounds its coordinates to about 0.1 degree (about 11 km / 7 miles) and sends them directly to MET Norway (the Norwegian Meteorological Institute) in Oslo, Norway, at api.met.no, to get a forecast of pressure and humidity. There is no Night Orders proxy or server in between. With each request MET Norway receives the rounded coordinates, your IP address (as any web server does), and Alison’s User-Agent string (the app name and version with our business contact, support@nightorders.app). MET Norway keeps the IP address and rounded coordinates in its access logs in its own data center in Oslo, Norway, in the EEA, and handles them under its privacy statement. If you are outside Norway, this means that information is transferred to and processed in Norway. Night Orders Studio LLC does not receive or store your location. No journal rows are sent. The values are a model forecast, an estimate, not a measurement at your location, and Alison does not diagnose anything from them. Alison keeps a humidity band and, when your previous weather tap was about 1.5 to 6 hours earlier, a pressure-change band, with the rounded place in your journal on your phone, not the exact readings. To work out that change, Alison keeps only the most recent pressure value on your phone, and replaces it at the next tap. A forecast is reused for about 30 minutes instead of asking again, and Alison never fetches weather in the background. Weather from MET Norway may be unavailable. When it is, Alison shows that the weather feed is unavailable and keeps no new weather sample. Alison 1.2 does not look up pollen or air quality, does not use Nominatim or OpenStreetMap, and does not send a ZIP code. Earlier entries from Alison 1.1 came from Open-Meteo.com and are credited as earlier samples when shown. Deny location and the journal still works.
